Welcome to the WeblishPal family!  We’re happy you’ve joined us to learn English with native English speakers.  So what’s next?

  1. Set up Your Profile
  2. Find & Save Your Favourite Tutors
  3. Purchasing Points
  4. Take a Class
  5. Posting a Job Advertisement

1. Set up your WeblishPal profile

Setting up a profile takes just a few minutes and helps your teachers connect with you. From the left hand menu, select “My Profile”. To add your info, click the “Edit” button and fill in your interests, English learning goals, and other fun facts that will make for interesting conversation.

1.1 Editing Your Profile

When editing your profile, you can add a photo from your computer. Simply choose your favourite picture add upload it from the “Choose File” button.

When you’ve made all your edits, hit “Save” at the bottom of the page.

2. Find & Save your Favourite Tutors

From the top navigation panel you can browse all WeblishPal tutors. When you find one’s you want to message and take classes with, you can conveniently save them in your list of Favourite Teachers.

When you then go to “My Favourite Teachers” from the left hand menu, you’ll see all the teacher’s you’ve added to your favourites.

3. Purchasing Points

In order to register for classes, you’ll need to purchase WeblishPal points first.

Go to your “Account Balance” from the left hand menu, and you’ll have options on how many points to purchase. Typical classes are about 1000 points, but you can purchase how many or few you want.

Your purchase is securely completed through AliPay or PayPal. WeblishPal doesn’t ask or store any of your financial information. Once you complete your points purchase through AliPay or PayPal, you will see your points credited to your “Account Balance” page. Points purchased are non-refundable.

4. Take a Class

Found an interesting class? Now that you’ve purchased your points, you can get ready to join it!

You will see 3 point levels – the highest point level is for a 1-1 class, and the price gets lower if more students join.

When you click “Register” for a class, you’ll get the chance to invite your friends by email to lower the class fees.

4.1 Getting ready for your Class

Once you’ve registered for a class, you can view it from “My Classes” on the left hand side. For detail, click the “Manage button”. In this view, you see your teacher, any messages or files the teacher has sent you.

WeblishPal has an integrated Adobe Flash-based video-classroom that you can access by clicking “Enter” from the manage class page. You can test your video and audio at any time.

4.2 Taking a Class

If your system is not compatible with Adobe Flash, try using some of these great video services (sign up before hand and coordinate info exchange before your class starts). Remember you can message the teacher to see which system works best for both of you.

4.3 Completing your Class

Once you’ve finished your English class, you can rate the teacher and provide comments.

You will also need to release the funds to pay for the class. Until this point, WeblishPal has held them in secure escrow, and now that the class is over, you can release the funds.

If in the unlikely event something goes wrong (ie, if the teacher never showed up), you can request that the teacher refund your points. We encourage everyone to resolve any issues amicably, but once an official “Dispute” is raised, WeblishPal will arbitrate the matter at a cost of 20% of the class fee.

5. Posting a Job Advertisement

Do you have very specific English learning goals? Then post an ad on WeblishPal to specify exactly what you want to learn, when, and how much you’re willing to pay.

Go to “Post a Job Ad” on the left menu, fill out the details, and decide whether this should be a Public or Private post. A public post will appear on the top Job Board for every one to view - this can be great if you haven’t found your ideal teacher yet. If you want to invite only a few select teachers, then choose the “Private” setting and invite your favourite teachers (by going to the My Favourite Teachers link on the left menu).

5.1 Managing your Job Ad

Once you’ve posted your job ad, you can check which teachers have applied by viewing “My Job Ads” from the left hand menu.

By clicking “Manage” your job ad, you’ll see the details, including which teachers have applied. You can message these teachers directly, and even create a class with them right from this page.
